tms research

Research at CNBS is supported by several NIH grants, and includes work on the neurophysiology of higher cognitive functions, the plastic capacity of the adult human brain associated with the acquisition of new skills and the recovery from brain injury, and the pathophysiology underlying diverse neuropsychiatric illnesses. In our studies we combine the use of trancranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), positron emission tomography (PET), single photon emission computerized tomography (SPECT), electroencephalography (EEG), electromyography (EMG) and evoked potential studies with careful neuropsychologic and behavioral measures.
