I joined the Center for Non-invasive Brain Stimulation in July 2006. I obtained my M.D. degree from Hacettepe University English Medical School in Ankara, Turkey and completed my specialty as a neurologist at Istanbul Sisli Etfal Research and Training Hospital in May 2006, with a specialty thesis on Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation for Evaluation of Prognosis in Stroke Patients. I was awarded a fellowship by TUBITAK, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, which enabled me to join the Center for Noninvasive Brain Stimulation as a postdoctoral research fellow. I had the chance to enlarge my experience at Department of Behavioral Neurology, Mc Lean Hospital of Harvard Medical School during my residency and at University of Granada, Spain as a medical student via IFMSA Scholarship. Research Interests / Research FocusBeing a clinician, my major area of research interest is the use of non-invasive brain stimulation in diagnosis and treatment of neuropsychiatric diseases. I am particularly interested in induction and modulation of neuronal plasticity in support of recovery from neurological injury. My current research project focuses on motor reorganization and recovery following stroke using rTMS and novel neuroimaging techniques. I am also involved in the CNBS clinical program with rTMS. As for paramedical interests, I enjoy classical singing, traveling, scuba diving, photography and cinema.
