FacultyMiguel Alonso Alonso MD, MSc I am a 31-year-old neurologist from Vigo, Galicia, northwestern Spain. I joined the CNBS in October 2005. I did my neurology residency at CHUVI (Complexo Hospitalario Universitario de Vigo). Over the past years I also had some research experience in several European laboratories: Sobell Department of Motor Neuroscience and Movement Disorders, Queen Square (London, UK), Department of Medical Physiology, Panum Institute (Copenhagen, Denmark), Netherlands Institute for Brain Research (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) and Department of Medical Chemistry, Albert Szent-Györgyi Medical University (Szeged, Hungary).
Research Interests / Research FocusMy research interests are the study of brain plasticity and its clinical applications. Given my background, I am very interested in doing translational research, bridging basic neuroscience and clinical neurology for the benefit of patients. My ultimate career goal is to devise and develop novel treatments for patients affected by neurologic disorders and improve their quality of life. My hobbies are playing the piano, trekking, swimming and traveling. |
