Clinical Research Assistant

Education History:
B.S., Psychology, University of Massachusetts Amherst

Akili graduated from The University of Massachusetts Amherst in the spring of 2021 with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Arabic. Previously, she worked as a research assistant for the Visual Cognition and Attention Lab at Umass Amherst, where she used eye-tracking equipment to research multi-target visual search tasks and its interactions with working memory. She is currently working with Dr. Shafi to study the effects of Levetiracetam on cortical excitability and improve brain function/cognition patients with Alzheimer’s disease.

Personal Interests / Hobbies:
Akili enjoys watching anime and horror movies, trying new foods/recipes, taking hiphop dance classes, and finding new musical artists.

Personal Goals:
As part of this lab, she looks forward to further exploring her interests in the medical and technological field. Akili has prospects of learning more about brain imaging & neurology, and hopes to work closely with staff to help determine the right graduate program for her interests.
