İsmail Emir Yassı, MD
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Education History:
MD, Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, Turkey
Emir completed his medical training at Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi with distinction. He previously completed a six-month research rotation at the Berenson-Allen Center for Noninvasive Brain Stimulation as a medical student, where he investigated the reliability of rTMS effects using source reconstructed TMS-EEG. Before joining the Center, he was a visiting student at MIT Media Lab, where he worked on a multimodal brain-computer interface study examining how cognitive load and autonomic responses relate to stress regulation and task performance during Tetris. Prior to this, he worked at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin Clinical Neurotechnology Lab on a novel neuromodulation method using peripheral nerve stimulation to alter functional connectivity in the sensorimotor cortex. At his home university, he developed a patented mobile hand exoskeleton for assistive and rehabilitative use, leading the project from design and prototyping through IRB approval, funding, and clinical evaluation. His current work examines how non-invasive brain stimulation can be used to probe network dynamics and integrity across neuropsychiatric disorders, and to relate these measures to biobehavioral and clinical outcomes.
Personal Interests/Hobbies: Outside work, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
